Jodi Skipper has a PhD in Historical Archaeology from the University of Texas at Austin with subspecialties in Cultural Resource Management and Museum Studies; she regularly teaches courses about heritage tourism and is the organizer of two historical tours in Holly Springs, MS: the Behind the Big House tour (an alternate history focused on the experiences of enslaved people that runs at the same time as the town’s annual pilgrimage) and the Ida B. Wells tour, located on the property where the renowned 19th c. civil rights activist was born.
