MUSE 201
Introduction to Museum Practice
Introduction to Museum Practice offers a broad overview of the world of museums and provides a foundation for students interested in pursuing future employment in the field. This course will explore the operational departments and professionals that work in museums, and how they contribute to the mission of collecting, preserving, and interpretating objects of cultural, scientific, and historical significance. After looking at the role of museums in society, students will also investigate the current political and ethical issues museums are facing today.
This is a core course for the new Museum Studies Minor.
